How we started
Rice is one of the most consumed foods in the world. This ingredient is mandatory in all Brazilian lunch tables. It was based on that, along with a strong will of growing and dedication for always achieving the best, that the Extremo Sul Rice Cooperative was born.
Founded in March 17 of 1965, the company was created due to Lauro Ribeiro’s entrepreneur inspiration. The rice producer was the leader of a group composed by 13 other producers, all of them impregnated by the cooperative spirit. Those precursors had the intention of receiving, drying, storing, industrializing and commercializing the rice produced in the south of Rio Grande do Sul state.
Who we are today
The Extremo Sul Rice Cooperative is localized in Brazil's most meridional region, along the Brazil-Uruguay border, and its head offices and industries are localized in Pelotas and Camaquã, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. With more than 50 years of history, the company has branches in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Recife, Fortaleza and Feira de Santana, besides many representatives working on all over the country.
Through the constant innovation, the pursuit of the best material and qualified labor, Extremo Sul has firmed its name at the national and international market. With 10 personal brands and a few exclusive to outsource purposes, the company has become a reference in the rice segment, exporting to countries such in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Extreme flavor, extreme quality
In its endless search for quality, in 1995 the company has signed the Term of Adhesion to the Gaucho Program of Quality and Productivity. Later, this search was reinforced by the implementation of the 5S Program, a Japanese methodology that primes for maximum quality in every step of the way. All of this changes were made to adapt to all demands that exist for producing rice with extreme quality.
